Make a Difference in Behavioral Health The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct care, support, and encouragement to patients in a residential behavioral health setting. In this role, you'll help create a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment while working closely with nursing, clinical, and case management teams.

As a BHT, you'll have an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients while helping them navigate their daily routines and treatment experience. You'll monitor patient well-being, promote engagement, support clinical programming, and respond appropriately to changing patient needs.
What You'll Do - Perform patient safety checks, room checks, and shift hand-offs to help maintain a safe environment.
- Support the admission process, including belongings searches, documentation, and orientation of new patients.
- Monitor and engage patients during meals, groups, recreational activities, and community interactions.
- Build rapport with patients while encouraging participation in treatment and daily activities.
- Assist nursing staff with vital signs, breathalyzer testing, urine drug screens, pulse oximetry, and other competency-based procedures.
- Observe and report changes in patient behavior, mood, or safety concerns to the treatment team.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and use appropriate de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
- Maintain infection control, hand hygiene, and biohazard safety standards.
- Collaborate with nursing, clinical, and case management staff to reinforce treatment goals and individualized care plans.
- Model professionalism, healthy boundaries, compassion, and recovery-focused behaviors.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in accordance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements - High school diploma or GED required; behavioral health or related education preferred.
- 3+ years of behavioral health, addiction treatment, healthcare, human services, or direct client-care experience preferred.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress or crisis situations.
- Strong communication, observation, documentation, and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of substance use disorders, mental health, and trauma-informed care.
- Good driving record that meets company safety and insurance requirements.
- CPR and Standard First Aid certification preferred.
- CNA, MA, CBHT, MHTC, or trauma-informed care certification preferred.
- Must successfully complete required onboarding training and competency demonstrations.
